APPLICATIONS
Datacenters of all sizes have become ubiquitous and provide the computing power that underpins the modern, digital economy. Datacenters are the single largest consumer of silicon photonics, driven by the need to connect servers, switches and routers together at ever increasing bandwidths, with ever decreasing cost and power requirements. Data rates and interconnection speeds have climbed from 10G to 100G, then 400G, 800G and beyond. Optics has needed ever shorter connections, often replacing copper cables, pushing power and cost targets ever lower.
OpenLight’s technology helps customers to improve the performance, scalability and ease of manufacture of all the different photonics elements used in datacenter devices and systems. It not only brings heterogeneous, laser integration in silicon, but also improvements to the performance, cost and integration of the silicon photonics. These include the waveguides, splitters, modulators, and photo detectors that enable datacenter systems.
OpenLight’s design enablement brings ease of design and integrated manufacture to the many companies involved in the datacenter market worldwide, scaling with the ever increasing demand for bandwidth.
