To achieve this, Openlight is enabling design and development engineers in all industries to do their own PASIC designs using OpenLight’s Process Design Kit (PDK).
This open platform strategy is aimed at making OpenLight’s unique technology widely available to many different industries, including datacom, telecom, LiDAR, healthcare, HPC, AI, and optical computing.

Dr. Carter brings more than 35 years of semiconductor and optical communications industry experience spanning commercial leadership, strategic marketing, business development, and technology. His career includes leadership roles with leading manufacturers of optical communications systems, components, modules, and subsystems, as well as a track record spanning business turnarounds, acquisitions, and successful exits.

James Dixon
Chief Financial Officer
James brings more than 25 years of finance leadership experience across global technology companies and high-growth businesses. Prior to joining OpenLight, James spent 20 years at Cisco in senior finance leadership roles spanning data center and enterprise networking, including businesses focused on optical technologies and transceivers. Most recently, he served as Divisional CFO of Cisco’s Data Center Networking Group, leading finance for a multibillion-dollar portfolio and supporting strategic planning, investment decisions, and business operations. Previously, he served as Divisional CFO of Cisco’s Enterprise Networking and Services Group and held senior finance roles supporting Cisco’s collaboration and communications businesses.

Kevin Soukup
Chief Operating Officer
Kevin brings extensive semiconductor and silicon photonics leadership experience spanning technology development, operations, strategy, commercialization, and business growth. Prior to joining OpenLight, Kevin served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Silicon Photonics business at GlobalFoundries, where he led the business with responsibility for product strategy, technology roadmaps, commercial operations, and growth. Under his leadership, the business expanded significantly, strengthening GlobalFoundries’ silicon photonics offering and customer engagements.

Kirk brings more than 25 years of semiconductor and photonics leadership experience spanning strategy, marketing, product management, business development, and commercial operations. Prior to joining OpenLight, Kirk spent 18 years at STMicroelectronics in senior leadership roles across corporate strategy, product marketing, and business development. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy, leading global strategy development and strategic marketing.

Fellow, Strategic Initiatives and Head of Engineering
Dr. Ranju Venables brings more than 25 years of experience taking photonic and semiconductor technologies from early-stage development through qualification, pilot production, and volume manufacturing. Her expertise spans III-V and electro-optic materials, quantum-structure-based devices, heterogeneous integration, and device quality and reliability.
